The Federal
Executive Council was established in 1968 for the purpose of extending
the intent of the 1961 Presidential Directive to improve coordination
among Federal activities and programs outside Washington DC. The need
for effective coordination among the field activities of Federal
departments and agencies was then and is still, very clear. The Federal
Executive Council performs several important functions within the state
of Rhode Island:
